CAS: Intelligence-Led Joint Operations Key to Defeating Nigeria’s Evolving Security Threats
Nigeria’s evolving security threats demand stronger collaboration, intelligence sharing and the effective use of air power rather than isolated military responses, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal SK Aneke, has said.
Speaking at the National Defence College in Abuja during a lecture to participants of Course 34, Air Marshal Aneke stressed that terrorism, banditry, separatist violence and other emerging threats require integrated operations involving the Armed Forces, intelligence agencies and other security institutions.
He said air power remains a critical force multiplier, providing speed, precision and flexibility for intelligence gathering, surveillance, rapid deployment, border security and the protection of critical national infrastructure.
The CAS warned that cyber threats, disinformation, unmanned aerial systems, piracy and transnational crimes are reshaping Nigeria’s security landscape, making cyber resilience and strategic communication increasingly vital.
Reaffirming the Nigerian Air Force’s commitment to innovation and force modernisation, Air Marshal Aneke said sustained operational success depends on intelligence-led joint planning and seamless cooperation across all security agencies, insisting that “no single Service can secure the nation alone.”
