NERC, NEMSA Deepen Partnership To Strengthen Power Sector Safety
Strengthening collaboration between regulators is increasingly seen as key to improving electricity safety and service delivery in Nigeria, as institutions work to tackle technical lapses and enforce higher standards across the power sector.
The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) and the Nigerian Electricity Management Services Agency (NEMSA) have inaugurated a Joint Technical Committee to deepen technical collaboration, improve regulatory coordination and enhance safety across the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry.
The committee is expected to harmonise technical standards, coordinate inspections and compliance monitoring, improve information sharing, and jointly address operational and safety challenges within the electricity value chain.
The initiative also seeks to ensure more effective implementation of the Electricity Act 2023 and strengthen consumer confidence in the sector.
Officials from both agencies described the committee as a major step towards fostering institutional synergy, promoting technical excellence and building a safer, more reliable and sustainable electricity industry in Nigeria.
