Uzodimma Rallies Support For Cancer Fight As FLAC Honours Survivors In Imo
The fight against cancer requires more than medical treatment—it demands sustained awareness, early detection and collective action.
That message resonated strongly in Imo State as Governor Hope Uzodimma reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting cancer advocacy across Nigeria.
Hosting members of First Ladies Against Cancer (FLAC) Nigeria in Owerri, the governor pledged continued support for the organisation’s programmes and urged Nigerians to embrace early screening while helping to end the stigma surrounding the disease.
The event featured emotional testimonies from cancer survivors, including men, women and children, who shared their journeys of resilience and recovery. Survivors also received cash gifts from the First Ladies in attendance.
FLAC Chairperson and wife of the Imo State Governor, Barr. Chioma Uzodimma, said the annual June gathering celebrates cancer survivors to inspire hope and raise awareness.
She also presented Governor Uzodimma with an award in recognition of his support for the organisation.
The gala night raised over ₦100 million to strengthen FLAC’s nationwide cancer advocacy, prevention and support initiatives.
