CCAN Applauds IGP Disu’s Assurance on Abducted Oyo Pupils, Hails 100 Days Of Police Reforms
A police force’s effectiveness is often measured not only by arrests and operations but by the confidence it inspires during moments of national anxiety.
For the Crime Correspondents Association of Nigeria (CCAN), the assurance by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Disu, that abducted schoolchildren in Oyo State will be rescued unharmed is a reflection of renewed confidence in the Nigeria Police Force.
The Crime Correspondents Association of Nigeria (CCAN) has praised the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, for assuring Nigerians that the schoolchildren recently abducted in Oyo State will be rescued safely.
In a statement marking the police chief’s first 100 days in office, CCAN described the pledge as evidence of the confidence, professionalism and operational effectiveness that have characterised his leadership since assuming office.
The association said the assurance has brought hope to affected families and reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to protecting lives and tackling criminality across the country.
According to CCAN, the Inspector-General’s intelligence-driven policing strategy has yielded significant successes against kidnapping, banditry, terrorism, armed robbery and cult-related crimes.
The group noted that security operatives have arrested hundreds of suspects and rescued at least 277 kidnap victims in coordinated operations nationwide within the period under review.
CCAN further commended the ongoing reforms aimed at improving police professionalism, transparency and community engagement, noting that police-citizen relations have improved under the current leadership through better responses to distress calls and increased accountability.
The association urged IGP Disu to sustain the momentum by deepening reforms and intensifying efforts to make communities safer, expressing confidence that the achievements recorded so far are only the beginning of a broader transformation of the Nigeria Police Force.
