NAU Engineering Faculty Seeks Stronger Partnership with NOCEN During Courtesy Visit To Provost

As higher institutions increasingly embrace collaboration to drive innovation and academic excellence, the Faculty of Engineering, Nnamdi Azikiwe University (NAU), has moved to strengthen ties with Nwafor Orizu College of Education (NOCEN) through a strategic engagement with its leadership.

A delegation led by the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Ugochukwu Okonkwo, paid a courtesy and congratulatory visit to the Provost of NOCEN, Prof. Victor Ifeanyi Obiora Ndirika, on Wednesday, with both institutions reaffirming their commitment to research, innovation and academic development.

Speaking during the visit, Prof. Okonkwo congratulated Prof. Ndirika on his appointment and expressed confidence in his ability to steer the college to greater heights.

He described the Provost as a respected academic leader whose contributions to the Faculty of Engineering continue to inspire excellence.

The Dean emphasised the importance of deepening collaboration between the two institutions, particularly in the areas of research, technological advancement, innovation and capacity building.

Former Dean of the Faculty, Prof. J.T. Nwabanne, also commended Prof. Ndirika’s leadership style, noting that his inclusive approach played a key role in fostering a peaceful and productive academic environment during his time at the faculty.

In his response, Prof. Ndirika thanked the delegation for the visit, describing it as a reflection of the enduring professional relationships built over the years.

He reaffirmed his commitment to forging strategic partnerships that would advance joint research, entrepreneurship and innovation for the mutual benefit of both institutions.

The delegation included Prof. Chris Okafor, Dr. Tochukwu Onyeyili, Dr. Ikenna Ubah, Engr. John Maduegbuna and Dr. Chike Nwachukwu, Head of the Department of Agricultural and Bioresources Engineering.

Delivering the vote of thanks, the Acting College Bursar, Mr. Toney Anieboh, expressed appreciation to the NAU team for their goodwill and support.

He expressed optimism that the partnership would deliver significant achievements in research, innovation and educational development.

The visit concluded with renewed commitments by both institutions to deepen collaboration and pursue initiatives that will contribute to academic growth and national development.
