Super Eagles Target Poland Victory As Bassey Boosts Chelle’s Squad

Fresh from their Unity Cup triumph in London, Nigeria’s Super Eagles are determined to continue their winning momentum when they face Poland in an international friendly on Wednesday night in Warsaw.

Head Coach Eric Chelle expressed confidence in his squad’s ability to secure victory, stressing that a winning mentality is becoming a core part of the team’s identity.

The coach received a major boost with the arrival of Fulham defender Calvin Bassey, bringing the number of players in camp to 20 ahead of the clash at the 58,000-capacity PGE Narodowy Stadium.

Bassey’s inclusion strengthens Nigeria’s defensive options, with Semi Ajayi, Igoh Ogbu and Emmanuel Fernandez also available at the back. In goal, Maduka Okoye has impressed in training, while Arthur Okonkwo and Francis Uzoho provide further competition.

The Eagles also boast a strong midfield led by captain Wilfred Ndidi, Frank Onyeka and Raphael Onyedika, while the attack features experienced forwards Moses Simon, Terem Moffi, Paul Onuachu and Akor Adams.

Onuachu heads into the match in high spirits after learning he has won the Turkish Super Lig Goal of the Season award.

Poland are also expected to field a youthful side, with coach Jan Urban likely to rely on winger Jakub Kamiński and a number of emerging talents.

Kick-off is scheduled for 8:45 pm local time in Poland (7:45 pm Nigerian time).
