Troops Foil Terror Plot, Recover Arms In Renewed North-East Offensive
Amid sustained military offensives against insurgents in Nigeria’s North-East, troops of Operation HADIN KAI have recorded fresh operational gains, including the recovery of arms and the prevention of a planned terrorist attack in Borno State.
The Joint Task Force disclosed that troops operating under Operation DESERT SANITY/VIGILANT SIEGE successfully detected and neutralised an improvised explosive device (IED) planted behind the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Camp near a military location in Ladari.
According to the military, the explosive device was believed to have been strategically placed to target reinforcement teams and military vehicles moving through the area.
Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) specialists later detonated the device safely without casualties.
In a related operation along the Ladari riverbanks, troops conducting clearance and strangulation operations uncovered an abandoned cache of weapons and ammunition.
Recovered items included a Browning pistol, a locally fabricated pistol, 26 rounds of 9mm ammunition, and seven cartridges.
Meanwhile, troops of Sector 3 working alongside operatives of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) arrested a 15-year-old suspected terrorist, identified as Umar Zacharria, in Gubio town.
Preliminary investigations linked the suspect to terrorist activities along the Kareto axis, where motorists have reportedly come under attack.
The military high command commended the troops for their professionalism and resilience, reaffirming its commitment to sustaining offensives aimed at dismantling terrorist networks and restoring peace and economic stability across the region.
