IGP Disu Bags NJF Life Patron Title, Pushes Sports Culture In Police Force
Recognising the growing role of sports in discipline, fitness and mental resilience, the Nigeria Police Force is deepening its partnership with sporting institutions to enhance officers’ performance and professionalism.
The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, on Thursday received a delegation from the Nigeria Judo Federation led by its President, Musa Olakunle Oshodi, at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
During the visit, the Federation conferred the prestigious title of Life Patron on the IGP in recognition of his emergence as the 23rd Indigenous Inspector-General of Police, describing it as a significant milestone for the sporting community.
Discussions during the meeting centred on strengthening institutional collaboration, promoting physical discipline among officers and advancing plans for the proposed 2026 IGP Open Judo Championship across Police Commands nationwide.
Responding, the IGP expressed appreciation for the honour and reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to integrating martial arts and competitive sports into police training programmes to improve discipline, fitness and overall well-being of personnel.
