Workers’ Day Boost for FCC Staff as Omidiran Approves Promotions, Retirees’ Payments
At a time when many public sector workers are demanding better welfare and career growth, the Federal Character Commission (FCC) has announced fresh measures aimed at improving staff morale and institutional stability.
Speaking during the 2026 Workers’ Day celebration in Abuja, FCC Executive Chairman, Hulayat Motunrayo Omidiran, approved the processing of staff promotions to be concluded before the end of May and also confirmed that funds had been approved for the payment of retirees’ entitlements.
She explained that payments to retirees would begin in batches as releases become available, while assuring workers that the Commission remained committed to improving welfare beyond expectations.
Omidiran also unveiled plans for quarterly staff engagement sessions and an annual end-of-year gathering to strengthen unity and inclusiveness within the Commission.
The FCC Tripartite Union Chairman, Benson Ameh, praised the leadership of the Commission, saying it had restored confidence and repositioned the agency for greater efficiency, while former TUC President and FCC Commissioner representing Taraba State, Bobboi Bala Kaigama, stressed the importance of dialogue and cooperation between management and staff.
The event highlighted the Commission’s renewed focus on staff welfare, productivity, and institutional harmony amid growing concerns over workers’ wellbeing in the public sector.
