Plateau Must Not Bleed Again: APC Chair Backs Tinubu Visit, Demands Tech-Driven Crackdown On Killers
In a nation where grief has become too familiar, moments of leadership are increasingly measured by empathy and decisive action.
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Nentawe Yilwatda, has praised the condolence visit of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to Plateau State following the gruesome killing of residents in Angwan Rukuba, Jos North.
Describing the President’s visit as a powerful show of compassion and national solidarity, Yilwatda said it came at a critical time when the people of Plateau are mourning yet another wave of senseless violence.
Tinubu was received by Governor Caleb Mutfwang, alongside political leaders, traditional rulers, and community stakeholders, before proceeding to meet bereaved families in an emotional display of empathy and reassurance.
But beyond sympathy, the APC Chairman issued a stern warning: Plateau cannot continue to endure cycles of bloodshed.
He condemned the killings as “inhuman, cowardly, and reprehensible,” insisting that the persistent attacks must no longer be met with routine outrage.
According to him, many of the perpetrators are not faceless outsiders but criminal elements embedded within or around local communities.
Yilwatda called for vigilance among residents, urging communities to expose and report suspicious movements, while insisting that silence and complicity must no longer shield those responsible.
He also challenged security agencies to abandon outdated tactics and adopt intelligence-led strategies, advocating the deployment of modern technology such as AI-powered surveillance, drones, and real-time tracking systems to pre-empt attacks and dismantle criminal networks.
Warning of the economic toll, he noted that Plateau’s rich tourism and agricultural potential continue to suffer under the weight of insecurity, stressing that no society can prosper where fear prevails.
The APC Chairman further urged a united front, bringing together traditional rulers, religious leaders, youth groups, and security agencies, to restore lasting peace.
He maintained that Tinubu’s visit was more than symbolic, signalling a renewed federal commitment to end the violence and deliver justice.
“The lives of Plateau citizens are sacred and non-negotiable,” he declared, adding that those responsible for the killings must be tracked down and prosecuted without delay.
For a state long admired for its serenity and beauty, the message was clear and urgent: the bloodshed must end, and this time, for good.
