Radisson Yenagoa Set To Redefine Bayelsa’s Tourism Economy By 2026

In a region long defined by its oil wealth, a bold shift towards hospitality and tourism is beginning to take shape, signalling a new economic narrative for Bayelsa State.

The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has expressed strong optimism that the Radisson Hotel and Conference Centre in Yenagoa will be completed and commissioned by December 2026, positioning the state as a prime destination for global visitors and investors.

Speaking after a high-level project tour and workshop at the Nigerian Content Tower in Swali, Yenagoa, the Executive Secretary of NCDMB, Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe, described the five-star facility as a “critical” project with the potential to unlock tourism and economic growth in the Niger Delta.

Ogbe emphasised his personal commitment to the project, noting that its successful delivery remains a top priority.

He expressed confidence that major technical and financial hurdles had been addressed, assuring that all stakeholders were aligned to meet the completion timeline.

Backing this optimism, South Africa’s Edison Corporation, working in collaboration with Radisson Hotels Group, has pledged to deliver world-class standards.

Its Chief Executive Officer, Vivian Reddy, said the project would not only elevate Yenagoa’s global visibility but also drive increased visitor traffic and investment.

Reddy highlighted the rigorous process behind securing Radisson’s involvement, describing it as a strong vote of confidence in the region’s potential.

He added that the facility, once completed, would stand as one of the finest hospitality destinations in the region.

Beyond luxury accommodation, the Radisson Hotel and Conference Centre is expected to serve as a strategic hub for conferences, business engagements, and high-level meetings, further energising economic activities across Bayelsa State and the wider Niger Delta.

As construction progresses, stakeholders see the project as more than just a hotel, it is a symbol of diversification, ambition, and a reimagined future for the state.
