Hidden Nigerian Talent Abroad: Coach Urges NFF To Hand Chiwendu Super Eagles Chance
As Nigeria continues its search for fresh attacking options, a football coach in Abuja is drawing attention to a young striker quietly making his mark in Europe.
The Chief Coach and CEO of JK Football Academy, Pastor Ifeanyi Isaac, has urged the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to invite 22-year-old striker Godswill Chiwendu to the Super Eagles, citing his impressive performances abroad.
Speaking with journalists in Abuja on Thursday, Isaac described the Anambra-born forward as a promising talent who could strengthen Nigeria’s national team if given the opportunity.
Chiwendu, a centre-forward currently playing for Albanian club KS Besa, has been in fine form since joining the side in 2025.
The striker, who has an estimated market value of €125,000, previously featured for international clubs including Fatih Karagümrük in Turkey and Trepça ’89 in Kosovo.
Isaac said Chiwendu’s experience across European leagues and his consistent goal-scoring ability make him worthy of national team consideration.
“For football to move to the expected level in Nigeria, we need footballers like him to be invited to the national team,” he said, adding that the forward has been scoring goals regularly.
Born in Awkuzu, Anambra State, Chiwendu has been attracting attention with his performances in Albania, raising hopes that he could soon earn a call-up to join established Super Eagles stars such as Victor Osimhen and Moses Simon.
While the NFF has yet to respond to the call, football enthusiasts say the emergence of players like Chiwendu highlights the growing pool of Nigerian talents shining across Europe.
