Police Arrest 90 Suspects, Rescue Abducted Victim, Recover Firearms, Ammunition Across States

The Nigeria Police Force says its latest operations across several states have disrupted armed robbery, kidnapping, cultism and other criminal activities, with arrests, a successful hostage rescue and recovery of firearms, ammunition and suspected stolen property.
In Jigawa, police responding to an armed robbery in Hadejia engaged the suspects in a gun duel, killing one alleged robber while others escaped with gunshot wounds.
Two Android phones, two power banks and a pair of shoes were recovered.
In Lagos, tactical operatives arrested five members of an alleged armed robbery syndicate, including its ring leader.
Police said they recovered three locally-made pistols, five cartridges and 300 rounds of 9mm ammunition.
The Force also reported the rescue of Reverend Ede Sunday John Tobechukwu in Ebonyi after sustained pursuit forced his abductors to abandon him.
His Toyota Avalon was recovered.
In Delta State, police recovered a three-year-old girl allegedly stolen at birth in 2023 and arrested two suspects in connection with the case.
Two other suspects were arrested in the state over alleged firearms dealings, with a pump-action gun, daggers, a battle axe and suspected charms recovered.
Other operations produced arrests and recoveries in Akwa Ibom, Plateau, Zamfara, Anambra and the Federal Capital Territory.
In total, the operations highlighted in the police briefing involved at least 90 arrests, including 54 suspects picked up during raids on black spots and uncompleted buildings in Abuja. Police said suspected Indian hemp and other illicit drugs were recovered.
The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, said the cases remained under investigation by the respective State Criminal Investigation Departments.
