Gusau Dismisses Claims Of Spat With CAF Vice President As “Pure Falsehood”

In an era where rumours travel faster than facts, the President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Ibrahim Musa Gusau, has firmly moved to douse reports of an alleged confrontation with a top African football official, describing the story as completely fabricated.

Gusau, who also heads WAFU B, was reacting to claims circulating on social media that he engaged in a heated argument with Fouzi Lekjaa, President of the Federation Royale Marocaine de Football and First Vice President of the Confederation of African Football, during a CAF Executive Committee meeting in Morocco.

According to the NFF President, no such altercation ever occurred.

He stressed that Nigeria and Morocco enjoy a long-standing cordial relationship in football and at the governmental level, adding that his personal relationship with Lekjaa has always been warm and respectful.

“There was no shouting match, no insults and no disagreement of any kind,” Gusau said, dismissing the report as “mongering of total falsehood.”

He also debunked suggestions that the supposed disagreement stemmed from comments on officiating during the AFCON semi-final clash between Nigeria and Morocco in Rabat, insisting he made no post-match remarks on refereeing decisions.

Gusau emphasised that the NFF remains appreciative of the Morocco Football Federation, the Local Organising Committee, the Moroccan government and CAF for delivering what he described as a memorable and well-organised Africa Cup of Nations.
