FG Applauds Super Eagles As Bronze Victory Rekindles Pride
In sport, medals are won on the pitch, but their meaning is forged in the hearts of a nation.
The Federal Government has formally celebrated the Super Eagles following their bronze-medal finish at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, describing the achievement as a triumph of resilience, unity and national pride.
In a congratulatory message issued by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, the government praised the team for carrying Nigeria’s football heritage with distinction from the group stage to the final whistle in Casablanca.
Idris noted that the players did more than compete, they inspired millions of Nigerians at home and in the diaspora through their discipline, fighting spirit and belief in one another.
He also commended the coaches and support staff for their dedication and sacrifice throughout a demanding tournament.
While acknowledging that the ultimate prize slipped away, the minister stressed that the bronze medal was “earned with dignity and effort” and belonged to every Nigerian who supported the team.
He urged the squad to celebrate the feat and use it as motivation for future challenges.
The statement reaffirmed Nigeria’s status as a powerhouse in African football and hailed the Super Eagles for sustaining the country’s proud AFCON legacy.
