Dawn Offensive: Nigerian Troops Kill Over 18 Terrorists, Repel Drone-Backed ISWAP Attack In North East

A fresh wave of coordinated military operations has dealt a heavy blow to terrorist networks in Nigeria’s North East, underscoring the army’s determination to deny insurgents any safe haven, even as enemy fighters deploy armed drones in desperate counter-moves.

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) on 28 January launched a surprise dawn assault on terrorist positions at Bula Dalo, neutralising more than 12 fighters and forcing others to flee in disarray.

The operation led to the recovery of several high-grade weapons, including AK-47 rifles, a PKT anti-aircraft gun, a rocket-propelled gun and a multiple grenade launcher.

In a separate strike on the Garno terrorist camp, Sector 1 troops killed six more terrorists, destroyed key life-support structures and recovered a large cache of PKT anti-aircraft ammunition, further degrading the group’s fighting capacity.

Meanwhile, troops of Sector 2 OPHK at Sabon Gari repelled a fierce ISWAP attack in the early hours of 29 January, which was backed by multiple armed drones.

Although part of the defensive position was briefly breached, reinforcements helped restore full control of the area.

Sadly, some gallant soldiers and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force lost their lives during the defence, while an excavator and lowbed were damaged by drone strikes.

Military authorities confirmed that exploitation of the area is ongoing to prevent any terrorist regrouping.

The Military High Command has commended the troops for their courage and urged them to remain aggressive and vigilant in sustaining pressure on terrorist elements across the region.
