As public confidence slowly returns to Nigeria’s streets, visible investment in security has become a powerful signal of stability.

Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, has strengthened security operations in the state with the donation of 30 Hilux patrol vehicles to the Anambra State Police Command.

The vehicles were officially handed over on Thursday at the Old Governor’s Lodge in Amawbia, where Governor Soludo presented the keys to the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu.

The governor commended the police for their dedication and noted a marked improvement in security across the state over the past year.

Soludo recalled the launch of Operation Udo Ga Chi, the joint security task force introduced in January last year, describing it as a game-changer that has significantly reduced crime and restored public confidence.

He said the impact was evident during the recent Christmas season, which saw a massive return of Anambra indigenes who felt safe enough to come home.

Highlighting the importance of sustained support, the governor said the patrol vehicles would enhance police mobility, response time and overall effectiveness, stressing that security remains the bedrock of governance and development.

Receiving the vehicles, CP Orutugu expressed gratitude to the state government, describing the donation as a critical boost to policing efforts.

He assured that the vehicles would be strategically deployed across communities to improve visibility, deter crime and strengthen community policing, while also appealing for further logistical support to match Anambra’s security needs.
