CISLAC, NECA Forge United Front On Policy Reform, Decent Work, Inclusive Growth
In an era where sustainable development increasingly depends on collaboration rather than confrontation, strategic alliances between civil society and the private sector are fast becoming a catalyst for meaningful national progress.
This reality played out earlier this morning as the Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC) and the Nigerian Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA) held a fruitful engagement in Abuja, aligning on a shared advocacy agenda aimed at strengthening policy reform, promoting decent work, and fostering a more conducive business environment for inclusive national development.
The engagement brought together key stakeholders from both organisations, who explored common concerns around Nigeria’s economic and labour landscape, particularly the need for policies that balance workers’ rights with business sustainability.
Discussions centred on how coherent legislative frameworks, social dialogue, and responsible corporate practices can drive productivity while safeguarding social justice.
Participants emphasised that decent work remains central to economic resilience, noting that fair wages, safe working conditions, and respect for labour standards are not only social imperatives but also drivers of competitiveness and long-term growth.
Both CISLAC and NECA agreed that policy reform must be people-centred, evidence-based, and responsive to the realities faced by employers and employees alike.
The meeting also underscored the importance of a stable and predictable business environment, where transparent regulations, reduced bureaucratic bottlenecks, and constructive engagement between government, labour, employers, and civil society can unlock investment and job creation.
By aligning their advocacy priorities, CISLAC and NECA signalled a commitment to sustained collaboration, leveraging their respective strengths to influence policies that promote inclusive development and shared prosperity.
Cross-sector partnerships, such as this, can play a critical role in shaping reforms that move Nigeria closer to achieving equitable growth, social stability, and economic transformation.
