Security Is Everyone’s Business – CP Orutugu Tells Ndi Anambra At Police Christmas Carol

Security thrives where trust and cooperation exist, and that was the central message from the Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Ikioye Orutugu, as the Police Command marked its 2025 Christmas Carol of Nine Lessons and End-of-Year Party in Awka.

Addressing officers, stakeholders and invited guests, CP Orutugu stressed that effective policing cannot be achieved by the Police alone, insisting that lasting peace depends on a united front involving government authorities, sister security agencies, traditional rulers, religious bodies, youth groups, the media and law-abiding citizens.

He commended the Anambra State Government, security partners, members of the Police Management Team, Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, tactical units, joint security task force personnel and Agụnachemba operatives for their shared commitment to strengthening security across the state.

Despite existing challenges, the Commissioner reassured residents that the Command remains resolute in protecting lives and property through intelligence-led policing, joint operations, community engagement and proactive patrols.

He attributed recent security gains to increased public cooperation and timely intelligence from Ndi Anambra.
CP Orutugu also assured residents and visitors of a peaceful festive season, revealing that patrols and surveillance have been intensified around churches, markets, highways and recreational centres.

He urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities promptly to the nearest police station or designated emergency lines.

In recognition of gallantry and professionalism, the Police Commissioner commended Inspector Okoma Ewa, Corporal Chawalamoke Godsfavour and Constable Emekwisore Ifeanyi for their swift response to a security incident that led to the recovery of arms, stolen cash and other incriminating items.

The event was marked by the traditional reading of the Nine Lessons and spirited performances by choral groups, adding colour and warmth to the Police Command’s end-of-year celebration.
