Afrobarometer Appoints Four Professionals To Its Board

Afrobarometer has taken a strategic step to deepen its influence on governance and citizen-focused research across Africa with the appointment of four accomplished professionals to its board of directors.

The new board members, drawn from diverse professional backgrounds, are expected to strengthen the organisation’s commitment to rigorous research, youth leadership and evidence-based policy advocacy.

Among the appointees is Bupe Lughano Kabaghe, a governance and development professional known for her work in policy research, stakeholder engagement and youth empowerment.

She is joined by Mathias Hounkpe, a respected Beninese elections and governance expert with over two decades of experience promoting democratic processes in West Africa.

Also appointed are Rita Sraha, a chartered accountant and business consultant with vast expertise in finance, corporate governance and strategic management, as well as Sherif Helal, an Egyptian electrical engineer whose work focuses on leveraging technology and artificial intelligence for social and economic development.

Afrobarometer said the diverse expertise of the new board members positions the organisation to further advance credible, citizen-centred data that informs public debate and policymaking across the continent.
