Onitsha South APGA Appreciates Members For Excellence
Hard work rarely goes unnoticed in politics, especially when it delivers historic results.
That was the mood in Onitsha South on December 8, as the Onitsha South Stakeholders Forum rolled out the drums to honour key party leaders and loyalists whose efforts helped secure a clean 21/21 governorship election victory across all wards in the local government area.
At a colourful ceremony held at Portsmouth Hotel & Suites, Fegge, the Forum presented Awards of Excellence to outstanding members, including APGA National Chairman, Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa, Onitsha South Mayor, Hon. Chief Emeka Orji, and other prominent stakeholders, in recognition of their dedication before, during and after the election.
Speaking at the event, Mayor Orji described the landslide victory as a product of collective sacrifice, resilience and unity among party faithful.
He expressed confidence in a “greater Onitsha South” by 2026 and announced plans for a Beginning of the Year Celebration in January to complement the end-of-year festivities.
Represented by former Caretaker Committee Chairman, Chief Emeka Asoanya, Ezeokenwa thanked the Forum for the honour and commended the people of Onitsha South for their overwhelming support for APGA. Asoanya also emerged as one of the award recipients.
Other awardees, including Chief Linus Ezenkwu (Nkwubuego) and Ambassador Festus Okorie Odugwo, applauded the Orji-led administration for tangible achievements such as the acquisition of a fire service truck and the attraction of a general hospital to the area.
The event also featured gift presentations to notable market, business and community leaders, while a surprise birthday cake presentation by House of Assembly aspirant Hon. Sylvester Okafor added colour to the celebration.
Dignitaries at the ceremony included community presidents-general, ward councillors, former APGA candidates and other opinion leaders, all united in celebrating loyalty, service and political excellence in Onitsha South.
