OPHK Pledges Stronger Security, Academic Ties With Nigerian Army University Biu
As security operations increasingly intersect with research, innovation and capacity building, the Theatre Commander of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, has reaffirmed the military’s commitment to deeper collaboration with the Nigerian Army University Biu (NAUB).
The assurance was given on Wednesday during a courtesy visit by the Vice-Chancellor of NAUB, Professor Lawal Bala Buratai, to the OPHK headquarters in Maiduguri.
The visit was aimed at strengthening institutional ties and exploring areas of academic and operational partnership.
Professor Buratai described the engagement as long overdue, noting that the university was keen to familiarise itself with the theatre command and align its academic programmes with real-time security needs.
He highlighted courses in Engineering, Cybersecurity and Security Management as key offerings that could support capacity development within OPHK, while commending troops for their resilience and sacrifices in stabilising the North East.
Responding, Major General Abubakar welcomed the delegation and emphasised the critical role of education in national development.
He described NAUB as the flagship university of the Nigerian Armed Forces and stressed that the institution remains a strategic asset within the theatre of operations.
The Theatre Commander assured the university of sustained security support and expressed OPHK’s readiness to leverage NAUB’s specialised programmes to strengthen both operational effectiveness and administrative efficiency.
The visit ended with the signing of the visitors’ register, exchange of souvenirs and a group photograph.
