FG Pledges Urgent Action As Anxiety Deepens Over Abducted Kebbi Schoolgirls
As fears grow across the country over yet another attack on a school community, the Federal Government has vowed swift and decisive action to rescue the female students abducted from Government Girls Secondary School, Maga, in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
In a statement on Monday, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, said the government shares in the grief and anxiety of families whose daughters were seized by armed men and assured that no effort will be spared in bringing the girls home safely.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, he noted, has reaffirmed that the protection of all citizens, particularly schoolchildren, remains a sacred duty of the Nigerian State.
The President strongly condemned the attack, including the killing of school officials who were performing their lawful duties.
According to the Minister, security and intelligence agencies have been given firm directives to locate and rescue the abducted students and ensure that the perpetrators are apprehended and brought to justice.
He stressed that the Federal Government “will not relent until this objective is achieved.”
Idris added that the administration is intensifying reforms in Nigeria’s security architecture to prevent such tragedies, including recalibrating military, policing, and intelligence operations for quicker and more precise responses to threats.
He further highlighted Nigeria’s strengthened coordination with ECOWAS, the African Union, and the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) to disrupt cross-border criminal and terrorist networks.
The Federal Government urged the public to remain calm and assured Nigerians that securing lives and restoring safety in schools remain top priorities.
