US Embassy Issues Security Alert Ahead Of Planned #FreeNnamdiKanuNow Protest In Abuja
Amid rising political tensions and renewed calls for the release of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the United States Embassy in Abuja has issued a security advisory to its citizens ahead of a planned protest slated for Monday in the Federal Capital Territory.
The Embassy warned American nationals to exercise caution, avoid large gatherings, and monitor local media for updates, citing the potential for the protest to disrupt movement or turn confrontational.
The planned demonstration, tagged #FreeNnamdiKanuNow, is reportedly being organised by supporters and rights activists demanding the immediate release of the separatist leader, whose continued detention has drawn both local and international attention.
Security agencies are said to be on high alert to prevent any breakdown of law and order during the protest.
