AWALCO Mourns With Nigerian ECOWAS Parliamentarian Over Wife’s Passing

Moments of grief often remind communities of the bonds that hold them together, and for the ECOWAS Parliament press corps, solidarity was on display in Port Harcourt.

The Association of West African Legislative Correspondents (AWALCO) has commiserated with Nigerian lawmaker Hon. Awaji Inombek Abiante following the death of his wife.

Led by its president, Mr Innocent Odoh, and joined by Mrs Uche Duru-Nwaotule, Head of the ECOWAS Parliament’s Communication Division, the delegation visited Abiante at his Port Harcourt residence during the Parliament’s ongoing Second Extraordinary Session.

Mr Odoh described the late Mrs Abiante as a steadfast and loving figure, while Mrs Duru-Nwaotule called the loss “devastating,” urging the lawmaker to remain strong.

In response, Hon. Abiante expressed gratitude for the show of support, saying the visit gave him strength as he comes to terms with the painful loss.

Other members of the AWALCO team included Kwaku Danso, Raphael Duru and Modupe Oyewale.
