Army Operations Chief Visits North East, Urges Troops To Innovate and Sustain Pressure On Terrorists
The Chief of Operations (Army), Major General Uwem Bassey, has charged commanders of Operation HADIN KAI to sustain momentum and adopt fresh strategies in the fight against terrorism in the North East.
Bassey, who visited the Theatre Command in Maiduguri on behalf of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, said troops must “go all out, dominate every space, and deny terrorists freedom of action.”
During his two-day operational assessment, the Army Operations Chief toured key locations including Bama, Banki, and Bula Yobe, where he interacted with troops, hybrid forces, and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force.
He praised their courage but cautioned against indiscipline and intelligence leaks, warning that “some may appear friendly by day but act as enemies by night.”
Bassey assured commanders that challenges raised during his tour would receive urgent attention and stressed the importance of joint operations with air, land, and maritime components, as well as other security agencies, to dismantle terrorist networks.
