CAS Stresses Transformation, Innovation and Morale As Keys To Military Effectiveness
Modern weapons may win battles, but wars are sustained by the will of those who fight them.
This was the message of the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hassan Bala Abubakar, as he reaffirmed the central role of transformation, innovation and resilience in building a formidable Armed Forces of Nigeria.
Speaking at the Third Quarter 2025 Defence Headquarters and Services Transformation Seminar in Abuja on Thursday, the Air Chief said loyalty, trust, cohesion and morale remain as critical as new technologies and welfare in determining victory.
“The will to fight goes beyond weapons, encompassing psychological stability, physical fitness, ideological conviction and confidence in leadership,” he declared.
Air Marshal Abubakar announced new strides by the Nigerian Air Force, including the revival of the Surveillance Aircraft (NAFSA) Eagle Project to boost self-reliance in aerospace technology, expanded training programmes, and incentives for research-driven innovation.
He also highlighted welfare measures such as new housing projects, medical upgrades, insurance cover, fitness initiatives, and over 70 new vehicles to support operations.
Earlier, Chief of Transformation and Innovation, AVM AH Amesinlola, praised the seminar as a platform for generating fresh ideas to meet Nigeria’s complex security challenges.
