AI Revolution Ushers In Era Of ‘Construction Intelligence,’ Says Julius Berger Boss

Managing Director of Julius Berger Nigeria PLC, Engr. Dr Peer Lubasch, has declared that Artificial Intelligence (AI) is reshaping the future of engineering, giving rise to what he described as an era of Construction Intelligence.

Speaking at the company’s 2025 Luminary Soiree in Lagos, Lubasch said Julius Berger is not merely observing the AI revolution but actively integrating it across its operations.

“In our laboratories and material testing, AI-driven analytics are improving accuracy, speeding up results, and enabling smarter quality control,” he said.

At PrimeTech, a subsidiary of the group, the firm is already deploying generative design, collaborative platforms, and automated clash detection to shorten planning cycles and deliver projects faster and with greater precision.

Lubasch explained that these innovations are transforming Julius Berger into a data-driven, intelligent enterprise, setting new benchmarks for performance, safety, quality, and client value.

He urged partners across architecture, finance, oil and gas, and engineering to embrace AI as an enabler of smarter, leaner, and more sustainable construction, while upholding integrity and inclusion.

Guest speaker, Mrs Ugochi Agoreyo, a senior Google executive, described AI as a transformative force across sectors, from banking and healthcare to governance and construction.

Rather than replacing humans, she said, AI augments creativity, automates repetitive tasks, and sharpens decision-making.

Architect Jurgen Willen of Willen Associates added that his firm uses AI to anticipate future needs in architecture, urban planning, and design, ensuring every project is innovative and future-ready.

The event drew leading figures from investment, finance, and industry, including Heirs Foundation Chairman Tony Elumelu, Mrs Winifred Akpani of Northwest Group, Mrs Belinda Disu of Abumet, and Vice President of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Engr. Akinbo Akin-Olugbade.
