Anambra Police Condemns Vigilante Assault On Female Corps Member

The Anambra State Police Command has strongly condemned the alleged assault of a female National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member by vigilante operatives in Oba, Idemili South Local Government Area.

Police spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed that the suspects have been identified, but noted that the victim’s unavailability has temporarily delayed investigations.

He stressed that assault in any form is a criminal offence under Nigerian law and assured that necessary legal action will be taken once the victim is available to aid court proceedings.

The Command reassured Corps members serving in the State of their safety, urging them to promptly report cases of harassment or abuse.

It also warned vigilante groups and other quasi-security outfits against brutality and misuse of authority, vowing that such misconduct would not be tolerated.
