NWFL Championship 2025 Set For Abia State, 17 Clubs Battle For Promotion
The Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) has confirmed that the 2025 NWFL Championship will take place in Abia State from 11 to 21 September.
Seventeen clubs are set to compete in the second-tier women’s league, with four promotion spots to the elite NWFL Premiership up for grabs.
Matches will be staged at the Abiriba Stadium and Umuahia Township Stadium.
NWFL Chief Operating Officer, Modupe Shabi, assured that the tournament will be conducted under the highest standards of fair play, integrity, and sporting excellence.
The official draws will be held on 12 September, while Matchday One kicks off on 13 September.
Group winners will automatically secure promotion to the 2025/2026 Premiership season.
Clubs vying for glory include Sunshine Queens, Osun Babes, Royal Queens, Pelican Stars, Delta Babes, Kwara Ladies, and 11 others.
The Championship continues the NWFL’s 2025 calendar, following the successful Premiership Super 6 earlier this year in Ikenne.
