Nigeria, Indonesia To Collaborate On Science and Technology Scholarship
The Federal Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology has announced plans to partner with the University of Indonesia on the Internship in Research (INSPIRE) scholarship programme, aimed at boosting staff training and productivity.
Permanent Secretary, Mrs Esuabana Nko-Asanye, revealed the initiative during a courtesy visit by Indonesia’s new Ambassador to Nigeria, His Excellency Bambang Suharto, in Abuja.
She highlighted the long-standing ties between both nations and stressed the need for collaboration in digitalisation, staff capacity building, and investment in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) to enhance Nigeria’s skilled manpower.
Ambassador Suharto said the partnership would build on existing relations, noting that Nigeria and Indonesia share similar characteristics, including large populations and strong agricultural potential.
He added that both countries could leverage technology to strengthen the blue economy, turn waste into wealth, and create entrepreneurial opportunities that drive national growth.
