Health Ministry Denies Endorsing NIDOE Faction
The Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare has dismissed claims that it endorsed a faction of the Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation Europe (NIDOE).
In a statement issued in Abuja, the Ministry said a video being circulated of a meeting between the Minister of State for Health, Dr Iziaq Adekunle Salako, and some diaspora representatives had been wrongly presented as proof of endorsement.
According to the Ministry, the meeting was originally arranged by Nurses Across Borders (NAB), a diaspora-led NGO partnering with the Ministry on developing a migration policy for Nigerian health workers.
Some individuals at the meeting introduced themselves as representing NIDOE and expressed interest in collaborating with NAB on ethical migration initiatives.
The Ministry stressed that it works only with reputable organisations in the best interest of Nigerian health workers and does not interfere in the internal affairs of professional or diaspora groups.
