Renewed Hope Agenda: Real Opportunities, Not Rhetoric – Information Minister

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to tangible development through President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, describing it as a blueprint for real and measurable prosperity for all Nigerians.

Speaking in Minna, Niger State, at a conference of Information Commissioners from APC-governed states, the Minister highlighted the comprehensive nature of the agenda, which, he said, stretches far beyond macroeconomic reforms.

“This is about real, practical opportunities for individuals, families, and communities,” Idris noted, citing ongoing projects in infrastructure, agriculture, youth empowerment, education, and innovation.

He pointed to bold policy decisions—particularly the removal of fuel subsidy—as key moves that are already yielding results. “It was a tough but necessary choice.

We’ve saved the economy from fiscal collapse and redirected funds towards major projects like the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and the Kaduna-Kano Standard Gauge Railway,” he said.

Idris revealed that over 900,000 small businesses have benefited from the Presidential Grant and Loan Scheme, while more than 350,000 students are currently supported through the Students’ Loan Scheme backed by a ₦70 billion government investment.

He also spotlighted the progress of the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano gas pipeline, poised to energise industries along its corridor, and the ₦75 billion earmarked to support small businesses through the Bank of Industry.

Describing the Tinubu administration as “youth-friendly”, he applauded the appointment of young Nigerians into key positions, urging state Information Commissioners to ensure citizens are informed and empowered to access these opportunities.

“President Tinubu is keeping faith with Nigerians. We must now translate that faith into hope and action at the grassroots,” he charged.

The event, hosted by the Niger State Government under the Progressive Governors’ Forum, aimed to strengthen collaboration and communication in rolling out the Renewed Hope Agenda across the federation.
