FG Reappoints Health Records Registrar, Urges Full Digital Compliance

The Federal Government has reappointed Alhaji Babagana Mustapha as Registrar and CEO of the Health Records Officers Registration Board of Nigeria (HRORBN), tasking him with deepening digital reforms and aligning professional training with national healthcare standards.

Presenting the reappointment letter in Abuja, Minister of State for Health & Social Welfare, Dr. Iziaq Adekunle Salako, praised Mustapha’s first-term performance, especially his strides in digitising registration processes. He called the board’s efforts “a shining example” for other regulatory agencies.

Dr. Salako charged Mustapha to expand digital operations, maintain a real-time database of all health records officers, and ensure strict compliance with registration laws. “Technology must enable full oversight. It’s unlawful to practise without registration, and equally wrong to employ unlicensed professionals,” he warned.

He also stressed the need to align the training curriculum with national digital healthcare reforms to ensure graduates are work-ready.

Permanent Secretary, Ms. Daju Kachollom, noted the board’s growing relevance, with over 100 schools now offering health records programmes.

She reminded stakeholders of the 31 December 2025 deadline for all federal health institutions to adopt Performance Management and Electronic Content Management systems.

According to the Head, Information & Public Relations, Alaba Balogun, Alhaji Mustapha, in response, thanked the government for the renewed confidence and pledged greater innovation, collaboration, and data-driven regulation to meet the board’s evolving mandate.
