Top Diplomats, Security Chiefs To Tackle Disinformation and Global Threats At Landmark DICAN Conference
Abuja is set to host a high-level gathering of global diplomats, security experts, and media professionals as the Diplomatic Correspondents’ Association of Nigeria (DICAN), in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, holds its Maiden International Diplomatic and Security Conference on 23rd July, 2025.
Leading the charge is the European Union Ambassador to Nigeria and ECOWAS, Ambassador Gautier Mignot, who will headline a distinguished panel of speakers converging at the iconic Rotunda Hall of the Foreign Affairs Ministry in Abuja.
With the theme: “Nigeria’s 4Ds Foreign Policy Strategy Amidst Global Security Challenges, Strategic Misperceptions, and the Age of Disinformation:
The Role of Diplomacy, Intelligence, and Media in Shaping National and Global Stability,” the conference will explore the Tinubu administration’s foreign policy pillars — Democracy, Development, Diaspora, and Demography — against the backdrop of rising insecurity, misinformation, and global unrest.
The event promises powerful insights from Nigeria’s top national security leaders, including the National Security Adviser, the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, and the Chief of Defence Staff.
Their rare appearances are expected to offer strategic perspectives on Nigeria’s security framework and collaborative efforts in global peacebuilding.
Adding weight to the forum are expected appearances from former Presidents, state Governors, federal lawmakers, Ambassadors, academics, and civil society actors — reflecting a broad, multi-stakeholder approach to policy dialogue.
Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and DICAN Grand Patron, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, will deliver the keynote address, while Professor Sheriff Ghali Ibrahim of the University of Abuja will anchor the academic discourse.
With diplomacy, intelligence, and the media at the heart of the conversation, the DICAN conference aims to generate actionable recommendations to strengthen Nigeria’s global standing and contribute meaningfully to regional and international security.
