In a bold move to strengthen basic education in Anambra, Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo has approved the release of N6.154 billion in counterpart funds, paving the way for the state to access a matching N12.3 billion grant from the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC).

The announcement was made on Friday in Awka by the Chairperson of the Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Dr Vera Nwadinobi, who hailed the governor’s approval as a game-changer for the education sector.

With the combined funds covering 2022 to 2024, the state is set to embark on a wide range of intervention projects. These include the construction and renovation of classrooms, provision of furniture, water and sanitation facilities, perimeter fencing, ICT tools, agricultural education materials, and sports infrastructure.

Dr Nwadinobi praised Governor Soludo’s dedication to transforming education, saying his timely intervention would greatly enhance teaching and learning across primary and junior secondary schools in the state.

“This is a significant milestone. The governor’s action demonstrates his unwavering commitment to delivering quality education for every child in Anambra,” she added.
