Tragedy In Onitsha: Two Arrested Over Teen’s Death As Police Recover Pump-Action Gun
In a shocking turn of events at the bustling Onitsha Main Market, police in Anambra State have arrested two suspects linked to the tragic killing of a 17-year-old boy.
According to eyewitnesses, chaos erupted on Wednesday, 12th June 2025, when the suspects — reportedly security operatives opened fire indiscriminately while attempting to arrest another individual.
A stray bullet fatally struck the innocent teenager, sending shockwaves through the local community.
Thanks to the swift response of officers from the Onitsha Main Market Police Division and the cooperation of traders, the suspects were promptly apprehended and an automatic pump-action gun was recovered at the scene.
Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Ikoiye Orutugu, has strongly condemned the “avoidable and unprofessional” conduct of the operatives involved. He has directed that the suspects be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Awka for thorough investigation.
The Anambra Police Command, through its spokesperson SP Tochukwu Ikenga, assured the public of transparency and justice in the matter.
