Soludo Hails Tinubu For Saving Economy, Calls For Ethical Rebirth In Nigeria
Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has praised President Bola Tinubu for what he described as a bold rescue of Nigeria’s economy from the brink of collapse.
Speaking at The Platform Nigeria event on June 12, hosted by Pastor Poju Oyemade in Lagos, Soludo declared that Tinubu’s “audacious reforms” have stabilised public finances and restored Nigeria’s economic trajectory.
“In 2023, I likened the economy to a standing dead horse,” the former Central Bank Governor said. “Public finance was on the verge of insolvency. Today, we are back on a solvency path.”
He pointed to endorsements by the World Bank, IMF, and global rating agencies as proof that the reforms are working—despite having been a former critic of those same institutions.
But beyond numbers, Soludo made a heartfelt call for a nationwide ethical and ideological rebirth.
“We must build a critical mass of Nigerians who believe in the country—and are ready, if need be, to die for her,” he urged, lamenting a national culture that often rewards shortcuts and unearned wealth.
Citing federal and state initiatives like the NELFUND student loan scheme and Anambra’s One Youth, Two Skills programme, Soludo said true transformation lies in investing in the people and creating patriotic stakeholders in Nigeria’s future.
“We must break this toxic culture and spark an ethical-value renaissance. This is a national emergency,” he concluded.
