NAF Airstrikes Thwart Boko Haram Plot Ahead Of Eid Celebrations
In a bold and timely move, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has foiled a major terrorist plot just days before Eid, delivering decisive airstrikes on Boko Haram hideouts in Borno State.
According to military sources, the strikes took place on 5 and 6 June 2025 in the Southern Tumbuns area, specifically targeting Tumbumma Baba and Chiralia — known hotspots for insurgent activity. Acting on credible intelligence, NAF jets under Operation HADIN KAI hit structures used by the terrorists for storing weapons and coordinating attacks.
The strikes, described as “precision-led”, were successful in neutralising several terrorists and crippling their logistics. The Defence Headquarters confirmed that the action was taken to prevent planned attacks aimed at disrupting Eid festivities and endangering innocent lives.
“This operation highlights the Air Force’s commitment to national security and the protection of civilians,” said Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, NAF’s Director of Public Relations. “We remain alert and proactive in our efforts to deny terrorists any opportunity to operate freely.”
The operation comes as a reassuring development for residents in the North East, where the festive season often brings heightened anxiety over potential attacks. With Eid just around the corner, the military’s swift intervention has likely saved many lives.
