Unity Cup Thriller: Super Eagles Pip Black Stars To Reach Final
West London lit up on Wednesday night as Nigeria edged arch-rivals Ghana 2-1 in a pulsating Unity Cup semi-final clash at Brentford’s Gtech Community Stadium.
The Super Eagles struck early, with Cyriel Dessers capitalising on a defensive slip to smash home in the 14th minute, before Semi Ajayi’s deflected header made it two just five minutes later.
The Ghanaians, cheered on by a vibrant crowd, fought back through Jordan Ayew’s brilliant second-half display, eventually pulling one back with 20 minutes left.
Ayew came agonisingly close to levelling the tie, but Nigeria held firm to book a Saturday final showdown against Jamaica, who narrowly beat Trinidad and Tobago 3-2.
The Black Stars will now face the Soca Warriors in the third-place play-off at 12:30pm, while the Eagles and Reggae Boyz clash in the final at 5pm.
