NUJ FCT Correspondents’ Chapel Elects New Leadership In A Peaceful Poll

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), FCT Correspondents’ Chapel, has ushered in a new set of executives following a peaceful and transparent election held on Saturday, 24th May 2025.

With 31 members accredited to vote, Comrade Felix Ojo emerged as Chairman after securing 23 votes, with three ballots declared void.

He will be joined by Comrade Hutson Efosa Akugbe as Vice Chairman, Comrade Henrietta Momodu as Secretary, and Comrade Gloria Tochukwu Umeweni as Treasurer, each clinching 23 votes apiece, with minor voids recorded.

The Chairman of the Credentials Committee, Comrade Philip Nyam, announced the results, flanked by fellow committee members Comrades Sharon Emephia, Ben Ubiri, Alpha Jackden, and Stella Okoh-Esene, who congratulated the winners.

Immediately after the declaration, the newly elected officers were sworn in by the Secretary of Council, Comrade Jide Oyekunle, who stood in for the NUJ FCT Council Chairperson, Comrade Grace Ike.

Certificates of Return were also presented to the new executives.

Reading a message from the Council Chair, Comrade Oyekunle applauded the electorate and praised the committee for a credible process, urging the new leadership to remain inclusive and uphold journalistic ethics.

In his remarks, Chairman Felix Ojo dissolved the Credentials Committee, thanked members for their participation, and pledged to lead with unity and transparency.
