Anambra Governorship Poll: LAJA Urges Peaceful, Issue-Based Campaigns

As Anambra State gears up for its crucial governorship election slated for Saturday, 8th November 2025, the League of Anambra Journalists in Abuja (LAJA) has issued a clarion call for peace and responsible politicking.

In a joint statement signed by LAJA President, Ikenna Okonkwo, and Secretary, Princess-Ekwi Ajide, the group appealed to political candidates and stakeholders to uphold civility and focus on policy-driven campaigns.

“Democracy thrives on dialogue, not division,” the statement reads. “Ndi Anambra deserve leaders who inspire hope, not discord.”

LAJA cautioned against the use of inciting language and violent tactics, stressing that no political ambition is worth the blood of any citizen. The group also urged Anambra youths to shun any role in political thuggery and instead become ambassadors of peace and civic responsibility.

The statement further called on INEC, security agencies, and relevant institutions to ensure the electoral process remains transparent, fair, and safe for all voters.

Reaffirming their commitment to democracy and justice, LAJA pledged to use their media platforms to promote peace, unity, and informed leadership.

“As journalists of Anambra origin, we will continue to amplify voices that advance the values of a resilient, enlightened, and forward-looking Anambra,” the group concluded.
