Nigerian Trailblazer Amina Oyagbola Named Chair Of Afrobarometer’s Governing Board

Nigerian business leader and gender advocate Amina Oyagbola has been appointed chair of the Afrobarometer Board of Directors, taking over from co-founder E. Gyimah-Boadi in April 2025.
A seasoned consultant with over 35 years of experience spanning law, business strategy, telecommunications, and advocacy, Oyagbola is the founder of Women in Successful Careers (WISCAR) and a former MTN Nigeria executive. She has served on Afrobarometer’s board since 2019.
“I’m honoured to lead Afrobarometer at this critical time,” she said. “As the continent evolves, it’s vital that African voices continue to shape the policies that affect them.”
Outgoing chair Gyimah-Boadi praised Oyagbola’s leadership and deep commitment to Afrobarometer’s mission.

Afrobarometer, known for its expansive citizen surveys across Africa, is a leading source of public opinion data used by global institutions, governments, and development agencies.
