When communities take bold steps to fight poverty with purpose, transformation becomes inevitable and in Awkuzu, that transformation is wearing the colours of Periwinkle Empire.
In its steadfast mission to enhance livelihoods and improve the quality of life in Awkuzu, the Periwinkle Empire recently held yet another round of economic empowerment through the Adinma Awkuzu, Periwinkle initiative.
The occasion, tagged Festival of Periwinkle, was more than just a ceremonial gathering but a celebration of hope, progress, and resilience.
The impact of the intervention was evident. Beneficiaries ranging from Keke transport operators to budding entrepreneurs, shared moving testimonies of how the scheme had turned their lives around.
The programme continues to build trust and restore dignity with soft loans ranging from ₦300,000 to ₦1,000,000 disbursed without collateral, but rather on the strength of human referees.
One of the event’s highlights was the joyous handover of a tricycle to Mr Gabriel Eze under the vehicle hire-purchase scheme.
His gratitude spoke volumes about how empowerment can drive change from the grassroots.
Speaking privately, Chairman of Periwinkle Empire, Dr Chiedu Nweke, revealed his vision to model the foundation after global giants like Ford and Carnegie with a local heartbeat rooted in the needs of Ndi Awkuzu. “We want to reduce poverty and build wealth in as many homes as possible,” he declared.
So far, 40 individuals have directly benefited from the initiative in various categories.
With such sustainable programmes taking root, Awkuzu is fast becoming a beacon of community-driven prosperity.
Indeed, the Periwinkle Empire is not just building businesses it is building lives.
