The Nigeria Police Force has apprehended a 28-year-old man, Dauda Samuel, for allegedly impersonating a Senior Police Officer and running a fake recruitment scheme online.

Acting on multiple public complaints and credible intelligence, the National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC) tracked and arrested the suspect in Panda Village, Nasarawa State.

He was said to have posed as DIG Frank Mba on Facebook, luring job seekers with false promises of recruitment into the Nigeria Police Force and collecting money under fraudulent pretences.

Investigators revealed that Samuel created fake social media accounts using the image and name of the Deputy Inspector-General without authorisation.

He has since confessed to the crime and is assisting with ongoing investigations aimed at unmasking possible accomplices and uncovering further digital evidence.

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, has issued a stern warning to cybercriminals, urging Nigerians to remain vigilant and cautious of too-good-to-be-true offers online.
