The Nigeria Police Force has recorded major victories in the fight against violent crime, rescuing kidnap victims, recovering stolen arms, and arresting notorious suspects in recent operations across the country.

On April 19, 2025, a swift response from operatives of the Faskari Division, Katsina State Police Command, thwarted a kidnap attempt along the Funtua-Gusau highway. In a fierce gun duel, the bandits fled with bullet wounds, leaving behind 10 rescued victims — two drivers and eight passengers — who have since been reunited with their families.

In Taraba State, a major breakthrough came on April 18 when police operatives, in collaboration with local vigilantes, arrested 40-year-old Umar Ahmad, a long-wanted criminal. A search operation led to the recovery of two AK-47 rifles, magazines, and ammunition, including a rifle stolen from the police during a deadly 2023 ambush.

Meanwhile, in Anambra State, vigilance paid off as officers patrolling Upper Iweka, Onitsha, intercepted a suspicious bus loaded with hidden pump-action guns and cartridges. In a related operation, 25-year-old Israel Akachukwu, a confessed cultist, was arrested with more weapons at his Nkpor residence.

Commending the gallant officers, Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, reaffirmed the Force’s resolve to tackle violent crimes head-on, urging citizens to continue supporting security efforts through timely information.

These successes, police say, are proof that intelligence-led policing is working — and that criminals will find no safe haven.
