EU Ambassador Pays Courtesy Visit To ECOWAS Commission Vice President

The Head of the European Union Delegation to Nigeria and ECOWAS, Ambassador Gautier Mignot, on Thursday, March 10, 2025, paid a courtesy visit to the Vice President of the ECOWAS Commission, Mrs. Damtien L. Tchintchibidja, at the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja.
Ambassador Mignot, accompanied by Deputy Ambassador Zissimos Vergos and Acting Head of Cooperation Ruben Alba Aguilera, formally introduced himself and reaffirmed the EU’s commitment to deepening its partnership with ECOWAS.
In her remarks, Vice President Tchintchibidja appreciated the longstanding collaboration between the EU and ECOWAS, highlighting the significance of the new cooperation framework under the NDICI, which spans priority areas such as trade, migration, energy, agriculture, peace and security, digital economy, and governance.
She also called for stronger coordination and ECOWAS’ active involvement in EU-funded project monitoring to enhance impact and accountability.
The two parties further discussed preparations for the 50th anniversary of ECOWAS and the upcoming launch of new joint initiatives.
