In a fresh diplomatic move, Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, has held a virtual meeting with U.S. Deputy Secretary of State, Christopher Landau, signaling renewed collaboration between both nations under the new Trump administration.
The meeting, the first of its kind since the U.S. administration change, focused on key areas of mutual interest including energy, trade, technology, security, immigration, and religious freedom.
Ambassador Tuggar reaffirmed Nigeria’s readiness to strengthen ties, citing structured initiatives like the Technical Aide Corps (TAC) as a model for organised migration that benefits all parties.
Deputy Secretary Landau echoed U.S. commitment to reinforcing commercial and security partnerships while deepening diplomatic relations.
The dialogue sets the tone for a reinvigorated U.S.-Nigeria partnership in tackling global and regional challenges.
