UK To Host 2035 Women’s World Cup As Sole Bidder, FIFA Confirms
The United Kingdom has been officially selected to host the 2035 FIFA Women’s World Cup after being the only nation to submit a valid bid, FIFA President Gianni Infantino announced.
In a historic move, England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland will jointly stage the tournament, marking the first time the Women’s World Cup will be played across all four home nations.
The decision comes after FIFA’s rotation policy determined that the 2035 edition would be awarded to either Europe or Africa.
Initially, Spain, Portugal, and Morocco explored a potential joint bid, but with Monday’s deadline passing without a formal submission, the UK emerged as the sole contender.
Meanwhile, Infantino also confirmed that the 2031 Women’s World Cup will be hosted by the United States, with the tournament set to expand to 48 teams for the first time. A move that is expected to elevate the competition to new heights.
