In a country where organised crime remains a major threat to public safety, the Nigeria Police Force is intensifying its efforts to crack down on criminal elements, particularly kidnappers, with remarkable success.
Recent rescue operations in Bayelsa and Adamawa States highlight the Force’s unwavering commitment to protecting lives and restoring public confidence in security agencies.
On March 7, 2025, a swift police response led to the rescue of the Special Adviser to the MD of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Mr. Loveday Akari, who was abducted in Ayakoro Community, Bayelsa State.
Working in coordination with other security operatives, officers successfully secured his release without any ransom payment.
Similarly, in Adamawa State, a well-coordinated operation led to the rescue of two Catholic priests, Reverend Fathers Abraham Samman and Matthew David Dusami, who had been kidnapped on February 21.
A breakthrough in the case came with the arrest of 34-year-old Tahamado Jonathan Demian, suspected to have links with the victims’ church.
The daring rescue on March 8 ensured the priests’ safe return, and authorities recovered an assault rifle, ammunition, and communication devices while intensifying efforts to track down other suspects.
These successes reinforce the Nigeria Police Force’s dedication to intelligence-driven policing and rapid response strategies.
Commending the officers for a job well done, the Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun reaffirmed the Force’s determination to dismantle kidnapping networks and urged citizens to cooperate by providing timely intelligence to aid crime prevention.
With such decisive actions, the battle against organised crime is gaining momentum, sending a strong message that criminals will find no safe haven in Nigeria.
